If you’re trying to grow your brand as a small business or social media influencer, this is the best app to be on in 2018.
Move over, Instagram. Pinterest is taking strides to compete against the legacy photo app as a major tool for digital marketing and influencers.
Technology now offers consumers a barrage of shopping choices, and social media influencers are in a great position to help consumers sort through the clutter. But there’s a strong need for retailers to make sure their visual content is seen early in digital communities where consumers go to seek inspiration, not just the website where they make a purchase.
Above, two examples of ads promoted on Pinterest.
Pinterest is the new place to be for digital advertising, with the majority of users now using the app to make purchase decisions, according to a study conducted by Pinterest.
The study said that 70 percent of pinners (pinterest users) now use the app to discover new products, while an overwhelming 90 percent say “pinterest helps them decide what to purchase. That’s out of a roughly 200 million monthly active users—meaning as an influencer or a retailer, you have tens of millions of potential consumers waiting for the next eye-catching content to draw them into a purchase. EVERY. DAY.
Instagram has already taken the lead in this sector, but with 1 billion monthly active users thousands of high-earning celebrities and even more high-demand influencers the market is cluttered.
Fortunately, there’s still Pinterest. After introducing two easy ways for retailers to create ads on Pinterest earlier this year, the app is pivoting from just an inspirational social platform to an eCommerce platform pushing B2C engagement. (That means interaction between a Busines and a Consumer.)
Plus, Pinterest offers a field of macro-and micro-influencer opportunities that may have a smaller, more focused audience.
Unlike Instagram’s algorithm which favors personal posts over ads, Pinterest seems to be pushing for more B2C interaction, offering a potentially better return on investment.
